Herb Parsons

Herb Parsons Bike Trail

Fisherville, TN

Trail Description: All single track, rolling hills, and short climbs. There is one main loop that is 8 miles long and there are several alternate trail sections that can be ridden.

Location: Fisherville Lake Road, Fisherville, TN.

From Macon Road and Collierville Arlington Road take Macon Road east for approximately 3 miles. Pass the Shelby County line and look for the signs for Herb Parsons Lake on the right. Follow signs to park. Park rules require that you must check in at the office before riding and park your vehicle to the right of the office near the pavilion.

History: This trail system was designed and built by Memphis riders nearly 10 years ago. In recent years it has undergone several updates and trail additions. MRC members have participated in trail construction and maintenance and have established a good relationship with park officials. This trail has been the site of many local mountain bike races and is a favorite of locals for training rides.

Impression: The Herb Parsons trail is fast and flowing with wide sweeping turns and gentle climbs. There are some tight sections but nothing like Lakeland or the front section of the Stank. This is a pedal masher’s dream course that rewards the rider who maintains momentum. It is one of those trails where you forget how good it is if you haven’t been there in a while. It has all the elements that make up a great ride, including nice restrooms and a snack shop in the office for that after ride pig out session. Take the family out to Herb’s for a ride and picnic this spring. Watch out for equestrians and archery dudes.

Note: This trail is open to the public. If you ride here please consider other users and those who constructed the trail. Don’t shortcut the trail or wide ride around mud, it only hurts the trail and increases trail maintenance. No motorized traffic is allowed on the trail. If you are interested in helping with trail maintenance please contact MRC by e-mail at chrisirving@cs.com or  scheidhauer@earthlink.com
