IRONBUTT PHOTOS

The fourth annual MRC Ironbutt will start at 6:00 AM on 6-24-01. The blisterbuttfest will begin in scenic downtown Memphis, originating in the Pyramid parking lot and concluding there after more that 57 miles of sweet single track (Stanky Creek, Lakeland, Herb Parsons, and the entire Wolf River Trail system), five miles of Tour de Wolf "trails", and 40 miles of boring connector roads. At the approximate mid-point ( Herb Parsons Lake) participants will enjoy a luncheon catered by R.B.'s Cyclery. It should be mentioned that in the history of this extravaganza only three hearty individuals have actually completed the event (and lived to tell about it.) The 1999 installment was run in the rain...resulting in the complete and total destruction of a perfectly good GT LTS. Experience has taught us to schedule a rain date, 7-01-01.

Equipment should include: Gu, bagels, 100oz Camelbak, plenty of tubes, chain tools, spare derailleur (and any thing else that might possibly break.) If you have any room left an extra pair of gloves and socks are highly recommended. Plan on having "piles" of fun completing the Ironbutt and don't expect to be able to move the next day. Finally, remember this is an exhibition, not a competition...no wagering please.
